The Establishment of the National Food Safety Authority


The first law issued by the Parliament in 2017 is a long-waited one establishing a central regulatory authority to be responsible for food safety, it is the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA).

According to Law 1 of 2017, NFSA is a public authority reporting to the President and it shall be responsible for protecting the consumers’ health and safety as well as ensuring that all food produced, distributed, marketed, consumed, imported from or exported to Egypt meets the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.
